AniLab Android and TV Guide to Versions and Installation
Compare AniLab’s listed Android, alternative and TV downloads. Learn what version labels mean and what to check before installing or updating.
Understand the AniLab download choices
AniLab’s Android download page presents more than one package: a main Android download, an alternative labelled AniLab2, and a TV download. That can be confusing if you arrive expecting a single button. The useful question is which package fits your device and purpose, rather than which button appears first.
This article explains the choices shown by the supplied website and offers a practical way to assess them. We have not installed the packages or confirmed their playback behaviour. Nothing here should be read as a claim that every listed anime title is licensed or that an APK has passed a safety test.
Main Android package
The checked main download filename contains v1.1.3. This is a label in the linked filename, not a version independently read from an installed app. The source also lists Android 5.0 or later. Treat compatibility as the source’s statement and still check the requirements of the package you actually receive.
Alternative and TV packages
The alternative filename contains AniLab2 v1.0.5, while the TV filename does not clearly specify a version. AniLab2 should not automatically be treated as a newer update of the main package. A different name can indicate a separate application, different configuration or separate release path.
Why version numbers need context
Comparing 1.1.3 and 1.0.5 only makes sense when both labels belong to the same release series. A larger number does not establish that a file is more suitable, more secure or better supported. Record the app name, device type and source alongside the number.
| Listed choice | Visible label | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Main Android | v1.1.3 in filename | Does it match the app and device you intend to use? |
| AniLab2 alternative | v1.0.5 in filename | Is this a separate app rather than an update? |
| TV download | Version not specified | Is your television device supported? |
The AniLab app page collects the supplied links in one place. Check the source again before downloading, because filenames and listed choices can change after an article is published.
Prepare your phone or television
Check your Android version in device settings and make sure there is room for both the downloaded file and the installed application. A package’s download size is not the same as the total storage it may occupy after installation and use.
For phones and tablets
Use a browser or file manager you recognise. Finish the download before opening it, and read the installation prompt. If Android asks for permission to install unknown apps, review the setting for that particular browser or file manager. It is not necessary to grant unrelated applications the same permission.
For Android TV
A TV build may expect remote navigation and a different screen layout. Before moving files to the television, confirm that it runs Android and accepts the intended package type. A television’s brand name alone does not establish its operating system or compatibility.
AniLab phone installation checklist
- Use the main Android download for a compatible phone or tablet; record the package filename and source.
- Wait for the download to finish, then open it from your browser’s Downloads list or a recognised file manager.
- If Android requests installation permission, review it for that browser or file manager only. Menu names vary by device.
- Read any installer or Play Protect warning before proceeding. After installation, review app permissions and turn off installation permission if it is no longer needed.
AniLab TV installation checklist
- Check the television or streaming device’s operating system. A smart TV does not necessarily run Android.
- Choose the source’s TV package and check its requirements before transferring a file.
- Use a transfer method supported by your device, such as USB if available. Transfer the completed package without altering it.
- Open it with the device’s supported file manager and review the installation prompt. Check remote navigation after installation; APK2Apps has not tested this package on a television.
| Situation | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Android phone or tablet | Review the main Android package and its requirements. |
| Android television or TV box | Review the separate TV package; do not assume the phone interface supports a remote. |
| Main package does not work | The source presents AniLab2 as a temporary alternative. Confirm its requirements and do not assume it updates the main app. |
| iPhone or a TV without Android | An Android APK does not install directly on these operating systems. |
Updating without losing track of your app
Before replacing an installed app, note its displayed name, version and original download source. If it offers a supported way to export local preferences, review that option. Do not assume that another package will preserve your local data simply because the logo looks familiar.
When Android refuses an update
A conflict can arise when an APK is not compatible with the installed application. Treat the message as a clue to investigate the package, not an instruction to uninstall immediately. Uninstalling may remove local settings, and a different package may still fail afterward.
Keep the main and alternative downloads distinct in your Downloads folder. Renaming your own notes is helpful; modifying or repackaging the APK is not part of the installation process. If you cannot establish whether a file is an update, return to the source for clarification.
Troubleshooting with a clear stopping point
If installation fails, first check whether the download completed and whether storage is available. Next, compare the device type with the chosen package. A TV option and a mobile option should not be assumed interchangeable.
If an app opens but a programme does not play, that is a different problem from package installation. It may involve the connection, availability or service itself. Reinstalling repeatedly is unlikely to explain which part failed. Avoid entering sensitive information or granting unrelated permissions just to continue.
Keep Play Protect enabled and investigate security warnings. For general Android installation steps, see our APK installation walkthrough.
AniLab questions and answers
Is AniLab2 necessarily an upgrade?
No. The alternative has its own name and version label. Confirm its relationship to the main app before treating it as an update.
Can the Android package run directly on iOS?
No. An APK is an Android package and is not an iPhone installation file.
Has APK2Apps tested these downloads?
No. The guide explains the source listing and general installation decisions; it does not claim hands-on or malware testing.
Choose a package for your device, not its number alone
A useful AniLab Android and TV guide should help you distinguish the download paths before touching an installation setting. Start with your device, identify the package name, and preserve a record of the source. That gives you a clearer basis for deciding whether to install, update or ask for more information.
